UCTV has posted highlights from the Natural Climate Solutions Symposium, hosted by ΢Ƶ in March. The hourlong video is available for , and it's on the (UCTV is carried by in California and other states).

The symposium examined how natural resources and landscapes can be part of the solution for climate change issues, such as with carbon sequestration and climate adaptation. It was hosted by the and The Nature Conservancy.

Speakers in the video include California's Democratic governor, Jerry Brown; and a Democratic state legislator, Sen. Fran Pavley of Agoura Hills; , executive director of the ΢Ƶ Policy Institute for Energy, Environment and the Economy; and , associate director of the .

“We got a good picture of where things stand in the state both in terms of challenges and opportunities,” Batten said in her closing remarks. “We’re not in a Pollyanna kind of picture here. There really are serious challenges around the impacts of climate change that we’re already experiencing. [There are] some national politics which are quite challenging; the need, as Governor Brown said, to compress all of this complexity into sound bites that can then be used to galvanize action around this. ... And also we’ve learned our lands in California are in fact a source of emissions and not just a sink, as many of us may have assumed. But it’s really good also good to recognize how much progress we’ve been able to make.”
