Five ensembles, one Gospel Choir, one Symphony Orchestra, one Concert Band and one Jazz Band. All are part of the ΢²ªÊÓƵ Department of Music, and all have concerts scheduled this month, some of them free and one of them on the Quad.

Gamelan Ensemble -- Free Noon Concert, 12:05 p.m. May 8, 115 Music Building.

Baroque Ensemble -- Pergolesi: La Serva Padrona (comic operetta) and Stabat Mater (liturgical), featuring soloists Marguerite Krull, soprano; and Chris Fritzshe, alto. 8 p.m. May 9, Studio Theatre, Mondavi Center.

Early Music Ensemble -- English Tudor church music, including Missa Lapidaverunt Stephanum (Mass for St. Stephen) by Nicholas Ludford (c. 1490–1557). 8 p.m. May 10, St. Martin's Episcopal Church,

Empyrean Ensemble -- Students and ensemble members Tod Brody, Chris Froh and Ellen Ruth Rose perform works by Schoenberg, Takemitsu, and Pablo Ortiz. Free Noon Concert, 12:05 p.m. May 15, 115 Music Building.

Gospel Choir -- African and African American choral music, including contemporary and traditional gospel, spirituals, hymns and anthems. 7 p.m. May 17, Freeborn Hall.

Symphony Orchestra -- Mussorgsky: A Night on Bald Mountain; Wagner: excerpts from Die Meistersinger, Act III; and Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique. 8 p.m. May 18, Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center.

University Concert Band -- Quad Concert: Classics of the band and wind ensemble repertoire, transcriptions from the symphonic repertoire, and the finest new works. Free. 12:05 p.m. May 21.
