΢²ªÊÓƵ-City-County Town Hall Oct. 17

Updated 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16: The bed count for The Green at West Village has been corrected to 3,300.

Chancellor Gary S. May will join other senior leaders from Yolo County and the city of Davis at a town hall Thursday night (Oct. 17), as the three entities continue sharing information and building relationships through ongoing dialogue.

The town hall will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on campus, in the first-floor auditorium of the , or GBSF. Parking will be free in in front of the GBSF. (Directions from Hutchison Drive: Turn south on Health Sciences Drive, which leads into the parking lot that is due south of ΢²ªÊÓƵ Health Stadium.)

With nearly the entire Davis City Council expected to attend, the meeting will technically function as a special meeting of the council, and is one of the rare occurrences for ΢²ªÊÓƵ to host a Davis council meeting.

The draft agenda includes a welcome from Kelly Ratliff, vice chancellor of Finance, Operations and Administration, followed by a public comment period facilitated by Mayor Brett Lee. Then will come updates from Chancellor May, Mayor Lee and Don Saylor, chair of the county Board of Supervisors.

Chancellor May will share recent ΢²ªÊÓƵ accomplishments and outline how the university is meeting its students’ housing needs, in part by building The Green at West Village, an apartment project that will accommodate nearly 3,300 students (the first phase, for 1,000 students, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020).

Annual town halls like this one are an outcome of a memorandum of understanding signed just over a year ago by ΢²ªÊÓƵ, the city and the county. Through the memorandum, the three entities have expanded opportunities for staff and leadership collaboration with an expectation that meeting topics could expand in future years as partners identify win-win solutions to improve the campus, city and county communities.
