University Concert Band plays on the road and at home

The University Concert Band  takes its show on the road next week, then performs at home in March. Here are the details:

• Feb. 19 — The ΢²ªÊÓƵ band followed by the University of the Pacific’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, 7:30 p.m., Faye Spanos Concert Hall at UOP in Stockton. Tickets available at the door.

• Feb. 20 — The ΢²ªÊÓƵ band performs with Calaveras and Amador county high school bands. 6:30 p.m., Bret Harte Union High School Theatre, Angels Camp. Free admission.

• March 10 — Festivity of Bands, featuring side-by-side sets by the ΢²ªÊÓƵ, California State University, Sacramento, and Davis High School symphonic bands. The program includes works by Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Tailleferre and Clifton Williams. 7 p.m., Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center. Tickets: (530) 754-2787 or (866) 754-2787, or .

The road trip and Festivity of Bands, according to the Department of Music, demonstrate University Concert Band director Pete Nowlen's ongoing efforts to work with and support the music education community in Northern California.
