Today the University of California, Davis, released the recommendations of three task forces that addressed basic student needs including affordable student housing, food security and mental health care.

HEALTHY UC DAVIS: Food Access Map, ‘Stigma-Free’ and Diabetes Prevention

Students have developed a digital map “to make it easier for ΢��Ƶ community members to find food on campus that meets their needs,” including free food. Also, the “Stigma-Free UC” initiative will present a webinar, Wednesday (May 23), on the topic of mental health awareness, and the Staff and Faculty Health and Well-Being Program announces a Diabetes Prevention Program with an introductory meeting set for June 28.

The UC Global Food Initiative is marshaling university resources to address the critical issue of how to sustainably and nutritiously feed the world. It includes food security and access at the campus level. At ΢��Ƶ, the initiative is helping the campus community work together to improve and expand services and programs to meet students’ needs.

΢��Ƶ Chancellor Convenes Task Forces on Important Campus Services

Chancellor Gary S. May of the University of California, Davis, has established three task forces of students, faculty and staff to examine affordable student housing, food security and mental health care.

“These are issues that have tremendous impact on our community,” the chancellor said. “΢��Ƶ has a great many services and resources available to our students, but it’s not a static landscape.

“How can we continue to provide the resources our students need effectively and efficiently? That’s what I’m asking the task force members to help me determine.”

A 4-month-old dog with a fractured skull is on the mend thanks to a cast 3D-printed by ΢��Ƶ students and veterinarians.

Another dog bit Loca, breaking her cheekbone and jaw. Biomedical engineering students created a custom-molded cast called an Exo-K9 Exoskeleton.

The Association of Public and Land Grant Universities released a new report yesterday in Washington, D.C., defining seven challenges for solving global food and nutrition insecurity.
