The academic year at ΢��Ƶ starts in just a few weeks, and our college town will be back in peak action.

For some students, this will be the first step of their journey through higher education. Others will be moving through their upper-division classes or grad school seminars with their ΢��Ƶ degrees in sight.

΢��Ƶ Selects New Dean for Continuing and Professional Education

Julie Greenwood, vice dean for Educational Initiatives in EdPlus at Arizona State University (ASU), will join the University of California, Davis, as its next dean of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Greenwood will start on Oct. 16.

Susan Catron announced last year she would retire this fall after five years as dean of CPE and more than 20 years in leadership roles at ΢��Ƶ.

Continuing and Professional Education Invites Applications for ‘Build Your Own Career’ Scholarships

Susan Catron to Step Down as Dean of Continuing and Professional Education

Susan Catron has announced she will step down as dean of the Division of Continuing and Professional Education, or CPE, in June 2023, after five years in office. Catron joined CPE in 1990 as a program manager and left in 2002 as director of marketing. After a five-year hiatus to complete her graduate studies and work in state legislative policy, she returned to the division in a variety of roles: director of health and policy programs, associate dean for program innovation, and senior associate dean for academic affairs.

The trainings offer tools and skills aimed at helping people find employment and advance their careers in the new environment, and are led by Andrea Weiss, a certified career counselor who also teaches employee development workshops and provides counseling for ΢��Ƶ departments and staff.

Continuing and Professional Education Gets New Home

΢��Ƶ Continuing and Professional Education (formerly ΢��Ƶ Extension) announced a new home for its Sacramento classrooms: One Capitol Mall (Suite 260).

Classes will begin meeting in the new location on Monday, July 15; until then, classes will continue to meet at Midtown’s Sutter Square Galleria, beside the westbound lanes of the Capital City Freeway (Business 80). Continuing and Professional Education classes in other locations, including the ΢��Ƶ campus, will be unaffected by the move.

Campus shutterbugs could soon see their pictures hanging in offices all around campus. Repro Graphics, in collaboration with the ΢��Ƶ Arboretum and Public Garden, is holding a contest for its annual made-to-order calendar giveaways.

Since 2010, Repro Graphics has been highlighting its in-house printing capabilities by offering free calenders featuring a custom blend of data and images.
