Internationally known for his signature blend of speed-painting iconic images, hip-hop dance, and inspirational speaking, Sacramentan David Garibaldi joined ΢��Ƶ Sacramento students and faculty recently to talk about arts, education and community.

“This past summer, we saw our world creating images that reflected how we felt, saying what we had no words for,” Garibaldi told the audience via Zoom. “Art has always been a voice for the unsaid.”

The 1st Quarter at Aggie Square: Transformative Justice Studies

Quarter at Aggie Square, an undergraduate academic program, will launch virtually this fall quarter with Transformative Justice Studies.

About 20 students have enrolled for the inaugural curriculum, which combines courses in education, sociology and African American studies with remote internships at an elementary school in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento. Oak Park is in close proximity to the university’s Sacramento campus, where Aggie Square is being developed and where Quarter at Aggie Square will eventually be based.

Immersive Experience: Quarter at Aggie Square

Quarter at Aggie Square has built out its first year’s curriculum, for fall-winter 2020-21, and is seeking additional proposals for future quarters at the university’s new innovation hub in Sacramento.

Leveraging its proximity to ΢��Ƶ Health, the state capital and community activists, this immersive, undergraduate program will address topics of societal concern from multidisciplinary perspectives. The first year’s topics, or “Experiences,” are transformative justice, health care equity, multilingual education and “bench-to-bedside” biomedical engineering.
