Maggie the Aggie and Cori Shine Alongside Football’s Home Opener Win

Tim Plough earned his first career win at the helm of the ΢��Ƶ football team at its home opener against Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday (Sept. 7) as the Aggies prevailed against the Lions, 36-22.

Also on display were twists on familiar attractions, like Cori the kickoff tee-retrieving dog being helped by a student athlete and a student making her debut in the role of Maggie the Aggie.

Football Season Kicks Off This Weekend

The ΢��Ƶ football team has been hard at work at its fall training camp for the past month, and will officially open the regular season with an away game at UC Berkeley Saturday (Aug. 31).

“We’ve continued to grow as a team and we are getting closer each day to finding out they type of team we are entering the season,” said head coach Tim Plough ’08, who is entering his first season as head coach.

How to Watch ΢��Ƶ Football This Fall

There will be a lot to look for at this fall’s ΢��Ƶ football games, and a lot of ways to watch, including a variety of game-day experiences and streaming of home games.

First game this week

΢��Ƶ will start the season this week with a game Thursday (Aug. 31) at Texas A&M University - Commerce, followed by another away game Sept. 9 at Oregon State.

The Aggies’ first home game in ΢��Ƶ Health Stadium will be against Southern Utah on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Football Savings for Faculty and Staff, on Tickets and Parking

Aggie football just got a whole lot better for faculty and staff, with a season ticket deal available as of today (April 25) and a switch to less expensive parking.

Meet ΢��Ƶ’ New Kickoff Dog: Cori

A fan-favorite tradition is back for another season of Aggie football, with a new dog trotting onto the field to retrieve the kickoff tee.

Cori, a 2½-year-old Labrador retriever, made her first appearance in Saturday’s 43-13 win over the University of San Diego, fetching the tee after every Aggie kickoff.

Eager fans who can’t wait for the Causeway Classic football game have a chance to beat Sac State on a different kind of field next week: in bloodmobiles stationed around the Quad for the three-day Causeway Classic Blood Drive.

NEWS BRIEFS: Stokes named emergency manager

Clement Stokes is the campus’s new director of emergency management and mission continuity. He previously served as director of emergency management at Northwestern University for seven years.

Part of the Safety Services unit, he will work closely with the Event and Crisis Management Team, chaired by the chancellor and provost, as well as emergency officials throughout the region.
