Distinguished Professor Emeritus Michael “Mike” Steven Denison, internationally known for his work in environmental toxicology, died March 22 at age 67 of glioblastoma. He was a resident of Woodland.

Walter Robinson: Emulating His Kindness

A campus memorial event for Walter A. Robinson is being planned for the fall, but his friends and colleagues also wanted to pay tribute to him now. So they are asking people to join them in random acts of kindness for a week in memory of the “Random Acts of Kindness King.”

Meanwhile, a private burial is scheduled for this Friday (June 21) and a private celebration of life is scheduled for next week. Robinson, 66, died June 9 of heart failure at his home in Vallejo, about eight months after retiring as associate vice chancellor of Enrollment Management.

Dean Emeritus Charley Hess Dies at 87

Geologist, Beloved Campus Citizen Eldridge Moores Dies

Distinguished Professor Emeritus and world-renowned geologist Eldridge Moores died unexpectedly Sunday (Oct. 28) while on a geology field trip. He was 80.

Moores began his career at ΢��Ƶ more than 52 years ago as a founding member of the Department of Geology (now known as Earth and Planetary Sciences) and the College of Letters and Science.

“’You gotta get down on the floor and play with them,’” her sister Diane Hawkins recalled Vo saying. “’You can’t just stand there.’”

Retired Med Center CEO Robert E. Chason Dies

Robert E. Chason, retired chief executive officer of the ΢��Ƶ Medical Center in Sacramento and a former administrator in Student Affairs on the main ΢��Ƶ campus, died Monday (May 8) following a brief illness. He was 73.

James A. “Jim” Beutel, a ΢��Ƶ pomologist who battled a devastating virus in a well-established fruit and helped in introducing two new fruits to California, died Dec. 28 at the age of 88 at a Vacaville hospital.
