Amid “Envision ΢��Ƶ” last week and four days before “Reimagining Our Work,” Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi used her Feb. 25 State of the Campus address to tie all the forecasting and thinking together, as part of her vision of ΢��Ƶ as the University of the 21st Century.

'Envision ΢��Ƶ': Ready, Set, Go!

This week all of us at ΢��Ƶ are thinking about the future; this coming Monday (Feb. 29) we’re asking all staff to think about the present — to think about the work they do, with an eye toward improving inefficient processes. This Staff Assembly-led initiative, with Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi’s backing, is called “Reimagining Our Work.”

These are the questions Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi and Staff Assembly are asking in two exercises, one next week and one the week after.

Preregister Now for 'Envision ΢��Ƶ'

Keep your chargers handy, ΢��Ƶ, because we’ll be playing this game for 36 hours straight, on our phones, tablets and laptops (and desktops, too). It’s “Envision ΢��Ƶ,” wherein all of us — students, staff and faculty — are encouraged to go online to brainstorm our university’s future.

The game, scheduled from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, to 11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, is for the Davis and Sacramento campuses, and all other ΢��Ƶ locations. You can preregister now at envisionucdavis.org.

Envisioning and Reimagining

Put your game face on, ΢��Ƶ, for 36 hours of online brainstorming! On Feb. 24 and 25, all of us — students, staff and faculty on the Davis and Sacramento campuses and beyond — will be asked to "Envision ΢��Ƶ," the ΢��Ƶ of 10, 20, 30, 40 years from now.

Then, on Feb. 29 (Leap Day), staff members will have the opportunity to brainstorm work process improvements, engage in team building, and position themselves and their departments to best serve the university. Staff Assembly is leading this exercise, called “Reimagining Our Work,” or ROW.
