Celebrate New Emeriti at Feb. 7 Event

The campus community is invited to a celebration Wednesday (Feb. 7) in honor of the 73 faculty members who transitioned to emeritus status last summer.

“For decades they strived to make ΢��Ƶ a better place, and many will remain engaged with research, teaching and public service,” said Walter Leal, distinguished professor of molecular and cellular biology and organizer of the celebration.

He honored some faculty members in a tribute video in the fall, and will honor the rest at the event this week.

Dean Johnson to Step Down at End of Academic Year

Kevin R. Johnson will step down as dean of University of California, Davis, School of Law in July after an extraordinary three terms and 16 total years of service. He will return to faculty in the school.

8 From ΢��Ƶ Elected as AAAS Fellows

Eight faculty from ΢��Ƶ are among 506 elected as new fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the society announced today (Jan. 31). AAAS fellows are scientists, engineers and innovators who have been recognized for their achievements across disciplines ranging from research, teaching and technology, to administration in academia, industry and government, to excellence in communicating and interpreting science to the public.

Olsen, Founding Faculty in Design, Dies at 86
